Dress To The 10s : The Modern Loverboy

Valentine’s Day is coming up. You have a cultural obligation to not shit the bed with the human you date. That means do the right thing like Spike Lee. That doesn’t mean your date wants to go to a Knicks game (the Knicks players don’t even want to go to a Knicks game). What it means is that whether you have that obligatory work dinner or something more adventurous on the docket (a swinger’s party? beret-laden poetry slam in which you “sample” chocolate stouts until you pass out? whatever kind of crazy you are, get it) your gear matters. Don’t give your girl an opportunity to roast you in the group text. Again we say… THE GEAR MATTERS. There’s several directions one can go. If you’re doing the swank cocktail thing in some dimly lit, low-pass-filter-looking neon-adorned grotto, we suggest the street luxe thing. Black moto skinnies from brands like Represent Clo, and anything Gucci Ghost re-imagined is the wave. Less is…

PARIS FASHION WEEK : 2018 Emerging Style’s Look Book

In 1945 the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture established another set of rules to determine and regulate Haute Couture houses. In order to meet the criteria, a fashion house had to ensure they followed newly imposed including that each season, a couture house must present a collection of at least 35 runs with both daytime and evening wear to the Paris press. Other rules included having a staff of at least twenty and that every design must include fittings and be made-to-order for the clientele. The ensuing Haute Couture biannual events are considered the origin of the official Paris Fashion Week. The first recognized Paris Fashion Week was held in 1973 and organized Haute Couture, Ready-to-Wear, and Men’s Fashion into one grouped showing by the Fédération Française de la Couture. The event was a fundraiser held at the Palace Of Versailles to restore the once iconic, albeit decaying, palace. It’s befitting that the event, in no small part…

#WanderSetting NYC : The Current Big Apple Look Book

As the fashion world looks to Paris in the upcoming week, we at Wanderset look to a metro that is equally as famous, but quite opposite just the same. If Paris is polish and panache, Manhattan is grit and grind. Don’t get me wrong, there is an overabundance of tres Michelin star white table cloth dining, skyscrapers that would make the Tower Of Babel feel like a cuck, and luxe fashion worn while being chauffeured in luxe cars. Maybe we’re just more brash about it here. As a product of the north east metro area, I  wouldn’t have it any other way. After all, The City is the gateway to The New World. And we all know it. It’s not that either Paris or NYC are right or wrong, in a cultural sense, it’s that NYC is just younger. It’s energy is different. There’s more pulsing and pushing, and like any little…

Wandersetting : Rep Your City In These Geo-Proud Pieces.

Who doesn’t like representing where they’re from?  As 90’s throwback becomes mod even more so in 2018, these fire drops from various lines on Wanderset are ideally on trend, and allow the wearer to rep from The A to The Bean. NEW YORK: RCNSTRCT 90’s “NY YANKEES PRO PLAYER” DUGOUT JACKET We all had these in elementary school. Well, those jerks that were lucky 90’s Yanks fans. Y’all had Jeter, Bernie and Paul O’Neil in their primes. Unreal. UNITED KINGDOM: REPRESENT BLACK “ENGLAND” HOODIE Feel like Posh Spice on match day, mates. BOSTON: SQONDER 90’s “BOSTON BIRD” VINTAGE T If you’re from New England, you know Bird was the first Brady in the north east. Rep for one of the NBA’s all time gods, and put on for the C’s. LOS ANGELES : CARROTS “LA” CREAM MENS T LA based streetwear designer Anwar Carrots…

Custom Supreme. Rare Yeezys, & Rabid Hypebeasts. This Was SneakerCon NYC.

The New York edition of the traveling sneaker convention SneakerCon is the show’s flagship. With upwards of 20,000 people expected to pass through the event’s entry lines, it’s now a cultural staple. It’s come a long way from its 2009 launch in a 2,000 square foot Times Square space that only hosted 600 attendees. Now, the convention boasts 13 shows a year in cities like Atlanta, Chicago and Fort Lauderdale, and that’s only domestically. This year’s NYC flagship event was expected to be even bigger than it’s 20,000 turn-out anticipation. It appeared as such. I attended this years event with Set Art Director and partner in childish horse shit/my Irish brother Drew McCarver, screenwriter and Wanderset guest latin culture contributor Jonathan “JayLee” Jordan, Armand “the Funeral Director” DeLuca and my old homie Mikey Nicholson, devout Liverpool fan, true hiphop head, man of the people, and the proud belt holder of…

How to flex on everyone at ART BASEL.

Art Basel is upon us, and all the Picasso Babies are descending on South Beach for the world’s biggest culture event. Along with the art, the obvious cornerstone and reason for Basel being, the fashion is a very, very close second. The event is populated by those who believe themselves to be a living canvas, with a rather wide range and scope. From Euro luxury to the more outlandish and rebellious, there is no “Basel Look” per se, but an ideal, or ideology. It is with these principals, themes, and motifs in mind that we curated an ideal outfit composite that reflects the spirit and energy of Basel – featuring some of the best designers and brands on The Set. Here it is. Top down. The Hat: DETACHE LABS CIVET 360  The wide brim Fedora is by far the most fitting for the city, season, and energy. The…

We Hung With NBA Star Draymond Green At Del Toro’s Pop Up in NYC.

Every part of New York City is a labyrinth that is not only it’s own grid on an actual map, but it’s own world inside a world. For long as I’ve spent in The City, I am still discovering new versions of it. Tonight, I was going to see my city through the lens of one of my favorite brands in a whole new way. This is Del Toro’s NYC. If you’re not from here, you probably think all of NYC is Times Square, or more recently, Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Where dudes on unicycles host Mumford & Sons look-a-like contests at conflict free coffee joints the way Nathan’s hosts hotdog eating contests. There’s far more in The Big Apple than that. The Village, SoHo, NoHo, The Bowery, St. Mark’s Place, Lower East Side, Hell’s Kitchen, Chelsea – these are the parts that had my heart from a young age. There’s a…

LA Street Style Essentials. The DIY Scumbag On Sunset Look.

Blame it on Soundcloud rappers, 90’s hardcore and the unabashed return of the scumbag. The DIY meets B Horror film meets vintage porn thing is real. It’s a George Romero meets John Holmes meets CBGB poster aesthetic that has the west coast stuck right now. It’s not about matching and suave. It’s about gnarly haunts and benders, living like Sid Vicious, and being polished in your scummery. Brands like SURF IS DEAD, BOW3RY, PLEASURES, & FOR THOSE WHO SIN have lead the charge, and made the debauchery and low class the wave. If you want to dress like Jay Gatsby, head to prep school. If you want to live like River Phoenix, Steve-O, and Johnny Rotten, here’s your fucking guide book. SURF IS DEAD “RHINO” T You already know what the Rhino is, you scum lord. FOR THOSE WHO SIN “CHESS NOT CHECKERS” Scratched on the bathroom…
