ComplexCon Is The Internet In Real Life. And We’re Invading It This Weekend.

The cultural hypebeast itself is roaring thru Long Beach this weekend like a Supreme wearing Godzilla. ComplexCon, brainchild of hiphop culture conglomerate Complex Magazine & Complex Media Network. The concept was to recreate the internet’s convergence culture in real life. No small task. Somehow it happened last year.  And this year, it’s even bigger. And Wanderset is officially invading. The Long Beach Convention center will feature booths with over 150 of the hottest streetwear, luxe, and urban leisure brands from everyone from mainstream monsters like NIKE to streetwear capsules from Off-White, Fear Of God, and UNDEFEATED. ComplexCon is an expertly curated convention and festival bringing the world of Complex Media Network to life. This is the Millennial’s World’s Fair. The minds behind Complex have come together with a Host Committee led by the Cultural Director/Executive Chair Pharrell Williams, legendary artist Takashi Murakami, Off-White designer and founder Virgil Abloh, Colette co-founder…

FUCK STEREOTYPES. SET PRECEDENT. Freeman Plat Does It For The Culture.

In 1964, Bob Dylan released the legendary album “The Times They Are A-Changin”. Covering topics ranging from the civil rights movement and racism, to Vietnam, to anti-establishment psychedelic culture, he spoke fluidly from the perspective of the vast gap between youth and leadership. Dylan’s capsule was highly reflective, raw, and revolutionary. Fast forward to 1971, when the late Marvin Gaye bookended the most turbulent decade when he released “What’s Goin On?” amidst the second wave of the Civil Rights struggle, the decay of a post Vietnam war American Dream, and his brilliant, haunting falsetto became the narration to an era. Since then there’s been “It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back” By NYC hiphop legends Public Enemy, “WAR” by U2 in the early 80’s that gave us anthems like “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and equally as brilliant soundtracks to seasons of history from Bob Marley, 2Pac, and Rage Against The Machine. This is shit I know well.…

Happy Halloween : The Illest B-Horror Film, Metal, & Darkwave Pieces On Wanderset

It’s that day again. When people get lit in costume from Atlantic City to Santa Monica Pier. That’s so basic, bruh. Cats like Lil Peep have made goth a thing again. Albeit in a trap manner. It’s in the vein of the abstract and fringe that make All Hallows Eve more fun as you age past Trick-Or-Treating. If you’re not traveling north by north east to Salem, Mass. – or are innately kind of a fucking weirdo and seeks to actual raise dead bodies and summon shit via Ouija wifi, then maybe you opt for the more subtle. Maybe you’re doing the George Romero films marathon. Maybe you’re blasting Marilyn Manson. Maybe you’re just already living a life of sinful debauchery and tonight is just like last night. No judgement. Not that these rad joints are subtle, but they’re for sure a cut above the Party City bullshit. …

Copenhagen’s WOOD WOOD Is Fall Fire.

WoodWood, the contemporary lifestyle brand founded in 2002 and based in Copenhagen, Denmark (like fellow Wanderset brand BLS Hafnia) has been silently becoming the American streetwear aficionados pick of choice in the past few years. In-The-Know circles have jocked the brand, and quite honestly, some suspect rips from mall chains have confirmed their vision in the space. Their vintage athletic meets progressive european minimalism has struck a perfect chord.  Dope flagship stores in Berlin, Aarhus, and Copenhagen embody and reflect the brilliant nordic minimalism thing, while still feeling a bit rebellious, a bit more haute couture, and a bit smarter than the anti-everything street lines. Wood Wood has a vision, and sticks to it’s guns- as it is still creative directed by co-founders Karl-Oskar Olsen and Brian SS Jensen. As a sub-cultural founded lifestyle brand, its founders grew up with street sports, graffiti, punk, and street culture in the 1990s. They mix…

Nike 90’s Air Max Edition Is Back.

Nike’s Air Max changed the game for good. First released by Nike in 1987, the shoe was originally designed by Tinker Hatfield, who started out working for Nike as an architect designing shops. Hatfield also designed many of the Jordan models, and he and Phil Knight did amazing things when it was realized his architecture background could be applied to footwear. The Nike air technology was created and patented by employee M. Frank Ruddy- and the old phrase “walking on air” become more literally, and less metaphorical for good. The golden era of the Air Max was the 90’s. And now we at Wanderset re-present the most dope of this time capsule. Start cloud walking to Wu, The Fugees and Tribe in these amazing 90’s reboots from Nike’s innovative kitchen. AIR MAX LUNAR 90 If Zack Morris was a shoe. AIR MAX LITE These look like the back…

The Top 5 Killer Del Toro Drops For Fall

We just wrote a full bio and intro on the homie Matthew  Chevallard. He took the concept, and embodiment of that luxe hotel Southbeach/Europe class leisure, and mixed it with some fresh ass SOHO vs LA fuck-the-corporate-streetwear shit. It’s a sartorial, high brow cultural middle finger steeze. And it’s rad as shit and just what the good doctor ordered. BURGUNDY MOROCCO HIGHTOP CHUKKA Burgundy Bottalato Leather high tops are inspired by the super hip Mediterranean nation. The motif of Camels and abstract design icons, a fresh white Margum sole, and signature Toro heel tab are leather lined, hand made right across the Med in Italy, and would be ideal for a navy blue suit. Cous Cous on these haters. BLACK VELVET CANDY SKULL SLIPPERS Day of the dead kill it in these hotel slippers that could only exist in a resort El Chapo owns and brunch is snorted,…

Del Toro Is The Hippest Luxe Footwear Designer On Earth. Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You.

Del Toro is the luxury lifestyle brand based out of Miami, Florida that we at Wanderset feel you need to discover. It’s not that they’re making everything from luxe slippers with skulls and crossbones, to red quilted high tops – it’s that it all works. It’s not a reach, or far fetched, and it doesn’t come across as a “do too much to be niche” rookie brand. Del Toro is not still feeling itself out, it knows who it is, and it’s unapologetically sarcastic, and sartorial. The brand’s character is equally European luxury, South Beach party posh, New England Ivy League, and NYLONKONG street rebellious. At the same damn time.  Originally a men’s brand, Del Toro now produces shoes and accessories for both men and women. Del Toro was founded in 2005 and originally sought to fill a void in the marketplace for affordable customized velvet slippers. Through this success,…

Footwear Friday : Retro Asics Drop Setlist

Asics are true classics. The heyday of the Asic kick was between the late 70’s to early to mid 90’s, with respect to re-release revitalization here and there. We felt it appropriate to drop this Asics retro kick #Setlist as the 90’s comes back around like the revolving door at The Max, Which, incidentally, is a real place outside the set of “Saved By The Bell”.  Here are some of the illest retro Asics on The Set. 5. ASICS GEL LITE III RED X GREY We could picture LT and Phil Simms rocking these post-practice in the Meadowlands circa 89. 4. ASICS GEL SPOTLITE The most 1991 high tops ever. 3. ASICS GEL LYTE EVO If snakeskin was some how trendy on Saved By The Bell. 2. ASICS GSMs CREAM + LATTE That cafe life is too real. ASICS MEXICO DELEGATION First introduced in 1966 in…

Post Malone’s Rock Star Look is Available on Wanderset.

Post Malone, the Dallas native who provided the soundtrack to summer 2015 with his indie breakout “White Iverson” has teamed up with Atlanta’s 21 Savage and broke the internet. According to The Verge, the song has broken Apple Music’s single-week streaming record with 25 million plays. DJ Khaled’s “I’m The One” previously held the record.  The song, produced by Louis Bell and Tank, is the lead single off Post’s up next sophomore album Beerbongs and Bentleys, due out early winter. https://soundcloud.com/postmalone/rockstar-feat-21-savage Apple Music has a long history of supporting Post ever since he blew up with his breakout single “White Iverson.” “We just have a long history of supporting Post Malone, even before he got signed,” Carl Chery, Apple Music’s head of curation, tells The Verge. “‘White Iverson’ was being heavily supported in iTunes—that song is old enough that Apple Music wasn’t even live yet. We were supporting him heavily back then, and we did the same…
