Knock Out Everything with YORK’s Lion Hearted Boxing Line.

Boston is a fighting town. The image of the hardworking Irish Catholic Southie boy in his Red Sox cap, Celtics jersey, arms adorned in Shamrocks and celtic cross ink is culturally iconic. It’s New England’s version of Americana. If you know anyone from The Bean, you know that guy. Or, you at least know someone that does know that guy. Sam Adams brewery, a holy reverence for both trash talking Larry Bird and Whitey Bulger alike, dimly lit Pubs that open early to show Premier League matches, and a vicious hatred for the Muthafaukin’ Brawnx Baumahs are all equally real in Bashtan.  So is boxing. The fighting Irish don’t only play in South Bend. So it makes perfect sense for Boston bred brand YORK Athletics MFG, to embrace that fighting spirit. York was founded by Mark McGarry, who spent time at both Nike and Puma in high level positions.  As the head of…

ELLESSE Throws Back On The Track Like An 80’s DJ.

Ellesse, the Italian sport wear line has stitched amazing pieces for athletes and weekend leisure seekers since 1959. In the late 70’s and 80’s, the line was rocked by everyone from European soccer stars to skiers, to tennis players, to Bronx rappers. Sure the line was Euro leaning. That’s to be expected by nature of it’s origins, but it’s reach was that of what we would associate with today’s quite global street wear scene.  The brand’s availability ranged from Barney’s in Manhattan to tiny little shops on Fairfax in LA, to the European equivalents of Casbahs, to sporting stores, and the response was equal at all addresses. Erik B and Rakim wore it proudly. Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith followed suit. So did the Nazionale di calcio Italiana.  The line had a heyday for sure. And we at Wanderset are going to extend it, bring it back, and put…

Stalk The Scandinavian Streets With BLS Hafnia.

BLS HAFNIA is a Copenhagen-based clothing brand, established in 2011 by Besnik Miftari. 6 Years later it’s creeping into the western world’s periphery like a dark horse prowler set to win a title from the lowest seed in the Europa League. Maybe it’s because Norse/Scandinavian design, as a theology, lacks the loudness that come with all of the bells and whistles. They let Tokyo, Manhattan, LA and Hong Kong play Bladerunner, Krush Groove, Saved By The Bell, and Ex-Machina. They do the IKEA thing. The Steve Jobs 2.0 Apple thing. The less-is-way-more and sleek functionality over all else but God thing.  BLS is the latest in a long line of austere, almost industrial (without being “brutalism”) designers from the Nordic North. There is beauty and intelligence in clean bones. Valhalla has a long wooden communal table from IKEA for nightly feasts, that can fold into a computer desk in 5 seconds.…

LA DUSK Pieces By FAIRPLAY. Inspired By The Lost Angel Skyline.

FairPlay, the Los Angeles based brand, is inspired by the functionality of athletic gear while adding a touch of character with intricate sport design. LA has been on a rise this past year, with the resurgence of classic OG brands like Crooks & Castles and new skool scumluxe lines like For Those Who Sin. While the line has it’s roots in sport, it’s also literally aesthetically rooted in, or from, the streets of LA. If you’ve ever been to the City Of Angels, you know it’s dusks and sunsets, gently sliding behind the art deco neon and rising smog, are as much a part of the fabric of the city as the Dodgers, Hollywood, Skid Row and Gene Kelly’s musicals.  Here’s 5 awesome pieces from FAIRPLAY that use the LA Dusk as a pallet, an inspiration, and actual fabric from the city. This one is for the coast. 5. DREXEL BOMBER…
